What Google calendar is and how to use it

My greetings to all those like me who love to plan their day and jot down their activities in a diary.

When I was a student, I clearly wrote down my schedule, indicating as many time periods as possible. That is how my love of gliding was born. At that time, I only had notebooks and diaries at my disposal, smartphones did not exist yet. That's probably why I haven't switched completely to digital planning yet.

My attention was drawn to the Google calendar, due to its convenience, and also the fact that it is integrated with every Google application (mail, tasks, notes, meetings, classroom, etc).

Here I will share with you how I use and design my Google Calendar.

Creating calendars

I use different calendars for different types of activities in order to simplify my visual perception of my tasks.

You can create a new calendar by clicking the button

After clicking "Add other calendar", you will be taken to the window for creating a new object.

Additionally, you can subscribe to or add an existing calendar created by others.

If, for example, you want to follow some events, you add them to your calendar, and all the events in this account will be shown on your calendar).

My basic work calendar includes dance classes and English lessons. These are my main responsibilities, and I don't move around much.

My next step was to create a separate calendar for my personal activities: German lessons, reading, and various meetings related to my everyday life. Tasks and appointments received from mail are automatically transferred to the same calendar.

The next calendar contains only tasks and events that pertain to my website.

Tasks and reminders were taken from the automatic calendar settings.

In total, I have six calendars at the moment:

- Regular dance classes;

- Regular English lessons;

- Personal to-do calendar;

- My site;

- Tasks;

- Reminders.

Public calendar

By using the settings of the created calendar, you can easily share your events with others.

A calendar with free hours for booking classes on my website, for instance, would be useful.

Select the three-dot button opposite the calendar by clicking "Settings & Sharing".

Your calendar preferences will be displayed. Click "Integration".

Here you can copy the data, and paste it into your calendar on the site.

This way you can share the data with others.

Customize your calendar

The calendar color scheme can be changed to suit your needs. By clicking on the three dots next to the desired calendar, you are able to select it.

On the color palette, click on the plus sign "Add your own color" Next, enter the color code that you want to use, or you can choose it yourself from the color picker.

In my case, I decided to change the colors to pastel shades, so I'm sharing my choice of colors with anyone who wants a softer flowering in their graphics.

Additions to the calendar

A side menu is another indispensable and very convenient feature, which allows you to see your notes and tasks, so that you don't forget anything, and can schedule a solution to a problem or set up a meeting at the appropriate time.

Speaking of meetings, you can schedule a Google Meet conference right in the calendar, and from there you can send invitations to the right people by mail. By adding a note in this window, the note will automatically be assigned to the task in the calendar, and will only be visible by the user.

These simple steps will allow you to create a calendar for yourself that is incredibly convenient and beautiful, and with many useful features to further organize and improve your day.
