TV series for Halloween.

There is no doubt that green sports uniforms will be the most popular Halloween costume in 2021. However, if you are more interested in classic TV shows, there are some that can inspire a "banal" costume, such as an alien, a vampire, or a mummy.

Paranormal

Cairo, 1960s. The life of Dr. Rifat Ismail is sad and lonely. The professor lives alone in a large apartment in the city center with his cat, teaches at the university, and slowly resists his sister's attempts to wed herself. He has already lost this battle because he is engaged to his beautiful cousin Huweida. She does not like him, and she treats him with undisguised reverence, which, by the way, is quite difficult because Dr. Ismail's character is quite complex. As a melancholic and misanthrope, his life is subject to Murphy's Law: whatever can go wrong, will go wrong. Dr. Ismail even formulates his own version of "Murphy's Law" based on the troubles he encounters on a regular basis.

He struggles to take control of his life when two women from his past appear at once: Maggie, his classmate and the love of his life, and Shiraz, the girl from an abandoned house in which he played as a child barefoot.

There is one supernatural story in each episode. The six episodes are united by the story of Shiraz: who is she and why is she suddenly so persistent in the main character?

In addition to being the first Egyptian series to be seen by a global audience, Paranormal is also the first Netflix original series produced in Arabic.

Despite their banality, the stories' endings captivate patient viewers. The selection of the main actor for the role of Rifat is a major accomplishment. It is much more difficult to create the canvas of legends and stories from ancient Egypt without its charm. The actor is also a famous Egyptian comedian who has never played a dramatic role before.

You should consider watching "Paranormal" if you're curious.

Resident Alien

Night. Storm. The spaceship is struck by lightning and the pilot is forced to eject. He is on a mission to our planet. Unfortunately, his ship has sunk, and the artifact he needs to complete the assignment is lost in the snowdrifts. The alien must adjust to living on Earth. Eventually, he ends up in the tiny town of Patience, Colorado. On the shore of the lake stands the country house of a wealthy New York surgeon named Harry Vanderspiegel. The alien kills Harry, throws his corpse into the lake, and assumes Harry's identity.

Finding the artifact and the wreckage of the spaceship will take a long time, so Harry will have to adjust to living among people. As a result, he gets used to it: he learns to speak like people on Law & Order, to eat, to sleep, to walk, and, ultimately, to be a person. Everything would be fine for Harry, and he would have lived alone, if not for a tragic accident: someone kills the only city doctor. Now, the city sheriff knocks on Harry's door and asks him to perform an autopsy on the deceased. After he comes the mayor with an apparent request - the late doctor was the only one in the city, and until a replacement is found, could Harry do something for society? Harry Wanderspiegel, who is not Harry at all and not Wanderspiegel at all but an evil and nasty alien, becomes a doctor in a small town.

The main character of the series is a villain. The Molecular reconstruction, which enables the alien to appear like Harry, deceives the entire population of the city, with the exception of the Mayor's 10-year-old son, who sees Harry in his true form. The child must be killed, which is a big problem for Harry. So what?

He knows nothing about being a doctor (except that he can use his smartphone to google), and he has a hard time being a human - everything is so extreme: talking, kissing, drinking alcohol (Whisky is disgusting! I want more!) and playing basketball. I find it amusing to watch him find out why emotions are important, what love and affection are, along the way. As you remember, the real Harry's corpse is still floating in the lake. If they find him, our hero will have problems. But what if Harry's wife shows up? What if it suddenly turns out that he can be seen by two people, rather than just one?

Alan Tudik is the perfect alien trapped inside a human body. Everything about his plasticity, his facial expressions, the way he interacts with other actors works flawlessly. As it turned out, he is a voice actor, but I remember him first of all for the phrase "students ?!" (in Russian voice acting). The film "Slaughter Holidays" is a brilliant satire on all kinds of horror stories, about the wrong turn. If you have not seen this masterpiece of 2010, then run to watch!

Midnight Mass

Crockett is a small island where a fishing village exists. There is only one church, one school, and one store. The island is small, so cars are not necessary. There are no rich people here; nearly the entire population of the island catches fish and crabs. Several years ago, an oil spill occurred in the Gulf of Mexico, and despite the fact that the responsible company paid compensation to residents, their situation has continued to deteriorate ever since. Others leave, and those who remain to turn to their neighbors, to a church, or to a bottle. Two ferries go to and from the mainland twice a day, and one ferry brings our main character, Riley, and a young priest, Father Paul, to the island. Paul's father arrives on the island, and miracles begin to happen. These are biblical miracles. After being paralyzed in an accident, a disabled girl gets up and walks. An elderly woman suffering from dementia, one of the heroines, suddenly regains consciousness after being blind for years. At the same time, people start disappearing on the island and something devilish starts happening. 'Midnight Mass' is positioned and announced as a horror series from the author of 'The Haunting of the Hill House' and 'The Ghosts of Bly Manor'. It will be scary, of course. Although "Midnight Mass" occasionally has creepy moments, like in the sixth episode, it is not a horror series in the conventional sense. It is an intriguing drama and a very clever discourse about faith and religion.

The Outsider

With a heinous crime, the series begins as a classic police thriller. The torn body of a raped child is found in a park in a small town. A lot of evidence points to the killer, including fingerprints, DNA, surveillance cameras, and testimony from many witnesses. There can be no doubt that the 12-year-old boy was killed by his baseball coach. The city and its residents are in shock. In addition, the main suspect and his family are even more shocked, since he has a complete alibi: at the time of the murder, he was attending a conference in another city. In addition, there is a video recording, which was broadcast on local television... And now, our main character, detective Ralph Andreson played by Ben Mendelssohn, is faced with the question: Can the same person be in two places at once?

"The Outsider" is a screen adaptation of Stephen King's novel, so by the end of the first episode, viewers will realize that this series is not about ordinary crimes, but about supernatural ones. To unravel this mysterious case, which became even more mysterious after the arrest of the main suspect, Anderson enlists the help of private detective Holly Gibney, known to viewers from the TV series (and books) "Mr. Mercedes". Holly finds new murders, just as cruel and inexplicable, and very soon she and detective Anderson will realize that their opponent isn't a man at all, but an ancient terrible demon. I'm disappointed in this show. The entire season was so interesting and thrilling, and the end was so disgusting. The last series of sneezes, puffs, and runs were nice, slow, oppressive, and very scary.

Marianne

The story of "Marianne" tells of a relationship between a girl and a witch. Her name is Emma Larsimon, and she is no longer a girl, but a successful writer who has been a world bestseller. Marianne is a witch hundreds of years old, who is not just a witch, but the wife of a powerful demon - Belet, the prince of hell, the lord of cats, and so on and so forth. Emma's bestsellers all deal with a long and bloody confrontation between the main character and a powerful witch. Although Emma is already tired of this series, she wants to write adult serious literature and she writes the final book in which the main character dies. This is when the series starts: when Emma discovers that her book Witch is not at all an invention, that Marianne really exists, and she is furious: she wants Emma to continue writing books. We learn "the rules of the game" in the first episode: Marianne is incorporeal, but her spirit can move into living people and control them. It is impossible for Marianne to lie about her own name, but she always lies and always deceives. There is no exception to this rule. The last thing Marianne does before leaving is to take something or someone with her. Her victims are never left without anything. Emma will now have to fight the ancient Witch, who demands new books from her and otherwise threatens to kill her parents and friends. 'Marianna' is a scary TV series in a friendly way. It is quite frightening at times.

OA

In OA, the entire story revolves around a girl with an alien appearance named Prairie Johnson. Seven years ago, Prairie left home and never returned. Police and her relatives searched for her, but in vain - the girl had vanished into thin air. Suddenly, she reappears. Her back is covered in strange scars, she has blackouts (or are they not blackouts and she just doesn't want to share where she was?) and, most importantly, she is able to see again. Now, she calls herself OA. Her parents don't know anything about her. Strangely, she gathers a group of young people - four schoolchildren and a teacher. OA meets with them regularly in the attic of an abandoned house, where he tells them all about his disappearance / abduction, as well as all of his incredible and not always realistic - rather, somewhat fantastic - adventures. OA is a first-person story. It's up to us to become the same listeners as the guys this strange girl gathered around her. The story gradually reveals that OA was not always Johnson Prairie, she was once Nina, the daughter of an oligarch from Russia. After a terrible accident, she became blind. A lot more happened and now she is in a foster home in America. Slow and meditative, the story requires full attention to words and events, as well as characters and circumstances. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. In addition, the story will end in an extremely unexpected and for many disappointing ways (or vice versa).

I am probably going to come up with a costume for my favorite and most dangerous vampire, Colin Robinson, while you explore and get inspired by the heroes from the TV shows.
